We are sad to announce the passing of Robert Argentine, MD. Dr. Argentine was a founder of UPMC CCP – South Hills.
A native Pittsburgher, Dr. Argentine trained at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1976 to 1979 before joining South Hills Pediatrics. With the late Robert MacDonald, MD, Dr. Argentine grew the practice to a multi-provider practice that quickly gained a reputation for excellence, thanks in no small part to Dr. Argentine’s dedication to patient care and clinical skills.
Dr. Argentine was instrumental in forming the UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics (UPMC CCP) network in 1996 with UPMC Children’s Hospital. Working closely with UPMC Children’s, Dr. Argentine’s commitment to patient care drove the UPMC CCP network to become a leader in pediatric primary care. What started as a network of just five pediatric practices, has grown to over 50, and we all have Dr. Argentine to thank for his role in that development.
His health sadly pushed him into a reluctant retirement in 2017 after 38 years of practice. He was highly regarded by his peers, not just for his clinical acumen, but for his humor and friendship. His passing was peaceful and he will be sadly missed.

Effective April 16, 2019, Children’s Community Pediatrics will officially be renamed, UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics.

By visiting UPMC Children’s Express Care, our after-hours clinic, your child will receive the same specialized pediatric care you’ve come to expect from your UPMC Children's Community Pediatrics pediatrician. Open conveniently on evenings and weekends, your child can receive care for minor injuries and illnesses when your pediatrician’s office is closed for the day.
