UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics (CCP) is the largest pediatric primary care network in western and central Pennsylvania with more than 60 locations and 250 pediatric providers. With the continued growth of our network, CCP is looking to recruit candidates into our brand-new medical assistant training program. If you are interested in working in the medical field, enjoy being around kids, and are looking for future growth opportunities, this program might be right for you.
Our first paid 8-week training session starts in July and includes benefits. Our goal is to offer a full- or part-time job with UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics upon successful completion of the program.
“We are thrilled to offer this unique training program within the communities we serve,” said Jennifer Iagnemma, senior director of clinical operations for CCP. “Recruiting qualified medical assistants has proven to be a challenge for our network. That’s why, CCP has decided to invest in creating our own training program to ensure our candidates receive a comprehensive, hands-on experience within a pediatric environment with the ultimate goal of deploying skilled, competent graduates to our pediatric offices.”
The medical assistant training program requires no previous medical experience and will include in-classroom training in UPMC CCP’s Wexford simulation lab, as well as shadowing and hands-on training in pediatrician offices. Trainees must be willing to travel to different pediatric offices in the greater Pittsburgh area for hands-on experience. Requirements for application include a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one-year work in customer service.

Open conveniently on evenings and weekends, your child can receive care for minor injuries and illnesses when your pediatrician’s office is closed for the day.
