UPMC Children’s Express Care will return to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville on Thursday, September 15, 2022, offering access to convenient and immediate care for infants, children, and teens after hours and on weekends for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries when regular pediatrician’s offices are closed. UPMC Children’s Hospital operates 10 other Express Care centers in western and central Pennsylvania.
“Our Express Care centers are an ideal option for families seeking care for those mild illnesses and injuries, such as earaches, sore throats, sinus infections, and more,” said Gabriel Cisneros, M.D., medical director of UPMC Children’s Express Care. “We want to make it as easy as possible for families to receive immediate care conveniently and efficiently.”
Located on the third floor of UPMC Children’s, the center will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. No appointments are necessary and free parking is available on site.
For added convenience, families can secure a spot in line before they arrive by using the “Save My Spot” option. Families can download the UPMC Children’s app or visit CHP.edu/Express to get started.
In addition, families also can access a variety of options for their child’s care including:
- UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics – visit your child’s pediatrician for daylight well and sick care.
- UPMC Children’s AnywhereCare – which provides 24/7 urgent care for newborns and children up to 17 years old by pediatric advanced practice providers—and can be found on the UPMC Children’s app or by searching “UPMC AnywhereCare” in the app store.
- UPMC Children’s Orthopaedic Urgent Care – a full-service urgent care center where patients receive immediate and specialized care for minor orthopaedic injuries, such as fractures, sprains, and strains.
- If a child’s injury or illness requires emergency or specialty care, UPMC Children’s Express Care at UPMC Children’s Hospital will follow the same practice as the other locations, which is to refer patients to the Emergency Department, or to a Children’s pediatric specialist.
