Established in 1953 in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, UPMC CCP – Bass Wolfson is one of the premier pediatric and adolescent medical practices in the area. Our founder, the late Lee Bass, MD, inspired our practice with the philosophy that the most satisfying and effective care comes from giving personal attention to our patients and their families.

With two office locations – one in Cranberry and one in Squirrel Hill – we are available when your family needs us most.

By functioning as your Primary Care Medical Home, UPMC CCP – Bass Wolfson puts your child at the center of health care decision-making. Your chosen pediatrician, along with the rest of our office staff, will work in partnership with your family to coordinate and personalize care. Your provider will also work with you and your child to establish a unique care management plan.

As a part of the UPMC CCP network, and under the leadership and guiding principles of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC CCP – Bass Wolfson is dedicated to offering exceptional pediatric care, right in your community.

General Office Information

After-Hours Care

We make ourselves available to keep your children at their best. If your child is experiencing sick symptoms outside of typical office hours, consider utilizing our after-hours services below.

Children’s Nurse Triage and Advice Line

If you have a concern about your child’s health, we encourage you to contact our office. The on-duty nurse can provide medical advice and connect you with a pediatrician should you need further assistance. The helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

UPMC Children’s Express Care

By visiting UPMC Children’s Express Care, our after-hours clinic, your child will receive the same specialized pediatric care you’ve come to expect from your UPMC CCP pediatrician. Open conveniently on evenings and weekends, your child can receive care for minor injuries and illnesses when your pediatrician’s office is closed for the day. Learn more about our services or find a location near you.

In the case of a serious emergency, call 911 or go to the emergency room.

Newborns

Once you have delivered your baby, please tell the hospital staff which UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics’ office you have chosen for your baby’s care. Depending upon the hospital, either a member of the UPMC CCP care team or a hospital-based pediatrician will examine your baby before they leave the hospital.

Remember to call your CCP office before leaving the hospital to schedule your baby’s first check-up with us. We will see your baby in our office as soon as necessary after hospital discharge, typically within two to three days.

New Patients

Our office is always accepting new patients. Whether you’re joining us from another pediatric office, or you are welcoming a newborn into the world, our practice is always happy to make your child a part of the UPMC CCP network. Call 412-422-3590 to schedule an initial visit.

At UPMC CCP – Bass Wolfson, we strongly recommend immunizations and require our patients to receive the primary immunization series recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and American Academy of Pediatrics as well as all state mandated immunizations.

There is strong clinical evidence supporting the fact that vaccines save millions of lives. Immunizations are, arguably, the single most effective service that we as pediatricians provide for our patients and therefore the most important thing, medically, that you as a parent/ guardian can provide for your child.

We recognize that the choice can be very emotional for some parents. Should you have any questions or reservations about vaccination, please contact the office.

Consent to Treat

Pennsylvania law requires all children under the age of 18 to be accompanied by an adult for each CCP office visit. Adults other than the patient’s biological parent or legal guardian will need to complete a Medical Consent Authorization form prior to the appointment. Some exceptions may apply. Please contact our office should you have any questions.

Billing & Insurance

Our billing is centralized through our Administrative office in Wexford, Pa. Should you have specific questions regarding your bill, please call 1-888-857-7646 or email your questions to CCPBilling@chp.edu.
