Practice Administrator and Privacy Officer, UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics

Lorraine R. Ferrante, RN, serves as the practice administrator and privacy officer for UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics. Ms. Ferrante is a registered nurse with over 38 years of nursing experience. This includes staff nursing, home health, critical care, cardiology and nursing administration.

As a practice administrator, she provides administrative oversight for UPMC CCP practice operations. In this role, she serves as a liaison between select UPMC CCP practices and UPMC CCP’s leadership team. In addition, Ms. Ferrante leads the resolution of risk management issues identified at the practice level and serves as UPMC CCP’s liaison with internal and external legal counsel and government agencies.

Ms. Ferrante joined UPMC CCP in 2011 as an informatics nurse and was subsequently promoted to director of clinical operations in 2012. During her tenure, Ms. Ferrante spearheaded and led a UPMC CCP-wide initiative to achieving patient-centered medical home accreditation from The Joint Commission. As the director of clinical operations, Ms. Ferrante provided clinical oversight and guidance for UPMC CCP staff, managing patient relations and overseeing the continued optimization of UPMC CCP electronic medical record.

Prior to joining UPMC CCP, Ms. Ferrante served as a senior practice manager for UPMC’s Cardiovascular Institute and was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and clinical compliance for five clinics. She began her career as a medical surgical staff nurse at UPMC St. Margaret.

Ms. Ferrante is a graduate of the Physician Services Division MBA program and Disney Institute’s Building a Culture of Healthcare Excellence program.
