PITTSBURGH, PA - December 11, 2014 - Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC will open a new Express Care center in Erie on Monday, Dec. 15. Children's Express Care-Erie will be open after hours and on weekends and feature Children's board-certified pediatricians who can provide treatment for minor injuries and illnesses.
Like existing Children's Express Care centers, the new Erie location on Peach Street will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from Noon to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. No appointments are necessary and free parking is available on site. Most health insurances will be accepted and copayments generally will be much less than for visits to emergency departments.
"Children's is dedicated to providing families in the Erie region all levels of pediatric care for their children," said Robert Burns, MD, medical director of Children's Express Care-Erie.
"We are pleased to offer our Express Care services to the community, in addition to Children's specialty care center for more complex subspecialty care and Children's Community Pediatrics practices," said Kathy Guatteri, vice president, Outpatient Services, Children's Hospital.
Children's operates seven other Express Care centers in Lawrenceville, Monroeville, Natrona Heights, South Fayette, Washington Hospital, West Mifflin, and Wexford.
