Quality and Safety

Our Commitment to Patient Care

UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics is dedicated to giving our patients the very best in pediatric care. That’s why quality and safety is at the forefront of all we do.

At CCP, we identify ongoing quality improvement and safety initiatives through data collection, analysis and feedback from our patients families and staff. Our primary goal is to protect our patient’s health and well-being and to provide safe, consistent and quality pediatric care at each and every visit.

Under the leadership of David Wolfson, MD, UPMC CCP medical director, and UPMC CCP director of quality, safety and outcomes, Pamela Schoemer, MD, we continue to implement improvement initiatives like the ones detailed below.

Compliance with National Patient Safety Goals

UPMC CCP is committed to ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals by reducing the spread of infection through proper use of hand hygiene and ensuring the right patient, receives the right care, at the right time through use of two patient identifiers during each visit.

Commitment to Preventative Care

At UPMC CCP, not only do we help sick patients get back to feeling the best, but we also put a large emphasis on preventative care. UPMC CCP shows our commitment to wellness by educating our patients about the importance of regular well-child visits, maintaining good oral hygiene and reducing exposure to diseases such as Influenza and Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

As we look towards the future, UPMC CCP will continue to expand our improvement initiatives so that your family is always receiving the highest level of quality care.
